Holy Cross Care
Team
The
mission of the Holy Cross Care Team coincides with that of
The Care Communities. This is to provide compassionate
care to persons and their loved ones living with HIV/AIDS
and other terminal illnesses, and to educate our parishioners
about the needs of our Care Partners and how, with practice
and emotional support, our Care Team helps meet those needs. This
Care Team is headed by Janet Patterson. Most of the
members have been around for 8 or 9 years giving their time
and support to the Care Partners and The Care Communities. Janet
Patterson attributes her longevity of this team to regular
Care Team meetings, support of one another, and the ongoing
involvement of the Care Team with the community. Janet
stated they will have a table at the Festival of Ministries
giving information on the Care Team and AIDS. The Care
Team attends many functions on behalf of AIDS education and
information about the Care Community.
This Care Team has had Care Partners with AIDS and cancer
over the years. The Care Team embraces each partner
with care and affection. Holy Cross Care Team meets
monthly on the 2nd Monday of each month. Care Team
meetings start promptly and are over in one hour.
They plan on conducting HIV/AIDS education for the youth
in their congregation through assistance from AIDS Services
of Austin. The Care Communities counts on the Care
Team to assist with office mail outs. Janet Patterson
has been a valuable source of information for the Care Team
Coordinator, Christina Camacho. It is an honor and
a pleasure to work with this team, and we applaud their work
with Care Partners over the years.
